Rene Maritz Logo Development
“It was an amazing experience working with Jo, as I was sent a few different options and ideas to look at and they were all stunning! Jo is truly a professional in every sense of the word. I can highly recommend her for any graphic design. You will not be disappointed. Jo was friendly and polite and delivered promptly. The format was perfect and user friendly. My logo has brought me so many new clients as it represents what I believe in – a tree symbolizes life and growth. Big thanks to Jo for her hard work and commitment in going the extra mile. “ [Rene Maritz Photography, Cape Town, South Africa]
Rene Maritz is a lifestyle photographer based in Cape Town. Her love of photography started when she visited shows, taking photographs of musicians and sharing their stories on her blog, Soul Sessions SA. Her work has been featured on DSTV, in the Sunday Times, Cape Town magazine and other local newspapers. Rene also wrote monthly articles for an online music magazine for 2 years. Although Rene’s passion is photographing musicians, she loves working with people and capturing special moments in weddings, events, or corporate functions.
Rene contacted me looking for a unique logo for her photography business and wanted something meaningful to her and that would reflect her personality within her brand – not the standard photographic type logo using a lens or a camera. Rene specifically wanted to work with a hand drawn tree image that she could easily use as a watermark on her photographs and that her clients would be able to connect with her and remember her by.
I created Rene’s logo by drawing a bare tree with branches, and then drawing the leaves individually. The leaves and the tree were vectorised and then the individual leaves were arranged on the tree branches. This was done in case the leaves needed to be moved around onto different branches to tweak the final composition. A signature-type font was selected for Rene’s name with Photography in an informal upper case typeface to carry through Rene’s natural, spontaneous brand personality. The final logo is a composite of the tree and the text but both can also be used independently of each other if required.
